“Communiqué Amending the Communiqué on Decree No. 32 on the Protection of the Value of the Turkish Currency” (“Communiqué”) was published in the Official Gazette dated 6 March 2025.

Within the scope of the amendment made by the Communiqué;

It has been made possible to determine the contract price and the payment obligations arising from these contracts in foreign currency or indexed to foreign currency in movable sales contracts, except for vehicle sales contracts between residents in Turkey.

The new regulation covers all sales of movable other than vehicle sales, and for example, the following transactions can be realized in foreign currency within this framework:

  • Sale of commercial goods (raw materials, machinery, equipment, etc.)
  • Sale of electronics and consumer durables
  • Sale of artworks and collectibles
  • Transfer of shares and other payment obligations arising from the transfer of shares

The amendment entered into force on March 6, 2025.
